What's the difference between a therapist, counselor, psychologist, and psychiatrists?

A therapist and counselor are the same, just different names. A therapist or counselor generally have a master's degree or Ph.D. in counseling and are licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Psychologists generally have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology and are licensed as Licensed Psychologists. Psychiatrists have completed medical school and are medical doctors (MD). Psychiatrists primarily prescribe medication for mental health problems.
